BRIDGE is a UK app that connects vetted gas, electrical and plumbing engineers with learners coming through accredited training centres who need real, on-the-job hours to qualify. You take a learner out on the jobs you'd be doing anyway, show them the trade properly, and get paid for it.
We handle the matching, the vetting and the payments; we don't take on trade work ourselves. You stay in control of who you take on, when, and how many, and there's no subscription or fee to receive work.

Getting paid is simple: after the work, the learner logs and signs the job, you confirm the job type and counter-sign, and your counter-signature releases the payout. Nothing pays out until you've checked and signed it yourself.

You stay self-employed; you're not an employee of BRIDGE. Payouts are your income to declare, and the self-billed invoice we issue is your record for the books.
Common questions
Am I responsible for the learner on my own jobs?
You work on your own jobs under your own registration and insurance (e.g. Gas Safe for gas mentors), exactly as you do now. The learner gains experience under your supervision. BRIDGE handles the matching and the payment, not your on-site responsibilities.
How and when do I get paid?
You earn a set payout for every completed job, and a learner does around 12 jobs with you, so that can add up to as much as £1,125 per learner. It's released per completed job once you've counter-signed it, paid straight to your bank by bank transfer through Stripe.
Will this affect my tax or self-employed status?
You stay self-employed; you're not an employee of BRIDGE. You work under your own registration and insurance, your payouts are your income to declare, and we issue a self-billed invoice as your record. If you're unsure how it affects your own tax position, check with your accountant.
Does it cost anything to join?
No. Joining is free, there's no subscription, and there's no fee to receive work. BRIDGE earns from the training side, not from mentors.
Do I have to take every learner?
No. You browse the available vetted learners within 60 miles and accept only the ones you want. You decide how many you take on.
Can I mentor as a limited company?
Yes. You can operate as a sole trader or through a limited company, either is fine, as long as you hold your trade's credentials (e.g. Gas Safe registration) and you're UK-based.
Do I need to send invoices?
No. BRIDGE issues self-billed invoices on your behalf for every payout, so there's no invoicing admin for you to do.
What do I need to set up to be paid?
A one-time ID and bank-details check through Stripe, so payouts reach the right account. Once that's done, future payouts arrive automatically.
How does a job get signed off?
The learner logs and signs the job, then you confirm the job type and counter-sign. Your counter-signature releases the payout.
How long does approval take?
After you apply, we verify your trade credentials (e.g. Gas Safe registration) and an admin reviews your application before you can be matched with learners.
What if a job doesn't get logged?
Every job is logged and signed at the time you do it together, and nothing counts or pays out until you counter-sign it. A job is only ever final once you've confirmed it yourself.
